1B: Montage

FA18 ARCH 1101/03 DESIGN 1 ASSIGNMENT 1[B.2] Select one of your earlier recordings from each of the Elements – this could be an entire drawing or a fragment – and produce a digital Montage that measures a 3000 px square. Consider scale and proportion, foreground and background, figure and ground, transparency and opacity, center of gravity, hierarchy, structure, dependency, proximity and confluence, compatibility and intrinsic resistance between the parts... so these new constructed assemblies could be read across a range of scales of implication – from the micro to the macro. Create a series of studies testing different relationships and present nine individual scenarios printed on 10” x 13” opaque paper. Those should be eloquent and intentional as well as ambiguous.
